1. Does Ethload 2.0 runs with Windows 95 ?

Yes, you have first to install the NDIS3PKT packet driver shim from Dan Lanciani. This free package is available from http://www.danlan.com/.

After the installation of NDIS3PKT, you can start Ethload in a DOS box with the following command line:

ETHLOAD -N

Beware that as the packet driver shim does not provide data link statistics, the first screen of Ethload will always display 0… Future version of Ethload will address this problem.

2. How can I display numeric/symbolic addresses ?

Ethload can display MAC, IP, DECnet, OSI addresses either by numerical values or by symbols. The symbols are derived dynamically from the LAN traffic (e.g. DNS request, LAN Manager broadcasts, …) or are defined statically from dictionaries.

Ethload uses the NumLock key to select the display of addresses:

Why is the Load graph always sliding ?

The display of the Load graph can be changed by toggling the ScrollLock key:

3. Where can I get updated TCP/IP dictionaries ?

The IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) maintains a list of all assigned numbers for the TCP/IP protocols when used on the Internet. This list is also applicable to most intranet. The list is available from http://www.iana.org/iana/.
