Many schools and school districts have adopted acceptable use policies, which establish clear guidelines for acceptable and unacceptable behavior. These policies address issues of netiquette, personal safety, contact with questionable material or persons, objectionable behavior, privacy expectations, limits on access, and in some cases, the school's discipline policy. Emphasis is placed on personal responsibility and students and parents may be asked to sign the policy before going online.
